Happy Birthday to me!

Saturday was my birthday. I had a pretty good day. Friday I got my hair colored at the Aveda Institute! I am now a huge fan! What would've cost $125 only cost $55! It even looks really good! I went and got a massage courtesy of Ma & Pa Wilcox. Oh man, it was awesome! The therpaist lives right next to St. Vincent's (our birth center) she said she'd come for free and massage me while I was in labor! Heck yeah!
After that I came home to meet Joe and he had made me a "Starcrunch" cake w/ candles and everything! It was really sweet. Then we headed off to Portland. We went to the Farmer's market and I was going to get flowers but we forgot that we rode the max in from Lloyd Center. They wouldn't have survived the day :( Let's see...we went to this pottery place and painted a bowl together. They fire it for you and you go back and pick it up. I was pretty impressed with our artistic abilities. Then we went and got yummy mexican food and watched "Nights in Rodanthe" it was okay...definitely not as good as the "Notebook" you can't beat that steamy kiss on the pier in the rain. C'mon every girl wants to be kissed like that!
Then we got cake at Rose's and came home. It was a pretty good day.

Halloween Baby!

So, I just got off the phone with perinatology. They've scheduled an amniocentesis for Oct. 29th. to test her lung maturity. I'm not looking forward to this. They stick a GIANT yes giant needle into my stomache and draw out amniotic fluid to be tested. Well, did I mention that I have an extreme anxiety about needles. I've been gettin used to these little ones to draw blood etc... well this one is huge and I'll be looking straight at it. Even worse, Joe can't be there. His mom is hopefully coming with me. I guess I should start with the positive now... If everything checks out okay (it takes up to 5 hrs. to get the results back) I'll be induced the next day (the 30th)

I'm kind of freaking out because we still have so much to do around the house! I still have boxes unpacked and it's just cluttered! There are still so many things that we need. I'm hoping we'll get the essentials at our baby shower. I'm excited to finally meet her. I want to know what color hair she has, who she looks like. I'm anxious to see her personality. Hopefully she's not as ornery as her mom!

It still seems surreal to me that we're having a baby! just a year ago I had my opera career mapped out. I knew which internships I was applying for, which voice coach I would use. Strangely enough, that doesn't matter anymore. That is weird to me. I figure if it's going to happen it will. Just on a little different time schedule. Who knows Bella might love opera and love coming to rehearsals.

Surprise!

So, today we found out that I'm going to be induced the last week of October. (I'll be 38 wks) At 37 weeks I'll have an amniocentesis to double check that her lungs are mature. For now that's the plan. I'm going to deliver at Providence St. Vincent in Beaverton. I'm not too thrilled about that fact. It's kind of hard because I have in my mind that I'm delivering at Southwest. I know exactly what their facilities look like, I know their procedures, what they give you to take home. So, now I have to adjust. I guess those are all insignificant things. They want me to deliver at St. Vincent's because all the specialists are there.

We also, met with the urologist and he said that she will definitely need surgery. 1 or 2 weeks after she's bion we'll go to OHSU and they'll inject dye in her kidneys and be able to see exactly what's going on and from there we'll know when and what kind of surgery she'll have. It was a lot of information. We were there for 4 hours! I'm definitely feeling overwhelmed and a little unprepared. AAAAAHHHH! Everything will work out. It's just stressful.

My first blog!

So, after years of hearing about blogs and everything I finally decided to start one. I really have no idea what to put on this bad boy. Hopefully my life is interesting enough to have something to write! Today was a good day. The lesson in Relief Society was really good. It was on Revelation and sustaining the modern day prophet. I'm grateful that we have a prophet to guide and direct us. We don't have to question God's will for his people. Especially with the world in the state it's in, do we need a worthy man with the authority from God to lead and guide us. Mine and Joe's parents came over for dinner it was great. I made pot roast and a strawberry tart all form scratch and it actually tasted pretty dang awesome! I'm glad my parents came. They need lots of sunshine in their lives right now. I wish they would accept the gospel! We went over to Jesse and Josh's for Josh's b-day. It was a good time. It felt good to sit and talk with girls my age! Since we've been married it's been hard at times not having constant girlfriends around. So yeah, I'm signing off because this pregnant lady is exhausted!
